Kurt Moosmann

Dr. Kurt Moosmann (*1966) is an acknowledged advisor to business owning families, family offices and private clients with global asset holdings. Before recently establishing his own Advisory firm Moosmann Advisors he had co-founded and successfully assumed the role as Chairman of Dara Capital, a Swiss Multi-Family Office providing Investment and Wealth Advisory services. Prior to creating Dara Capital, Dr. Moosmann was Member of the Executive Committee of Quilvest Switzerland Ltd., where he was responsible for the creation and management of their Wealth Advisory Department. Before joining the Quilvest Group, he was the International Head of Deutsche Bank’s Wealth Planning Division. In the past, Dr. Moosmann has also worked abroad for a number of other international financial institutions.
In 2004, Dr. Moosmann co-founded the Family Office Roundtable (FORT), which is now run in collaboration with Wharton University. FORT serves as a global Think-Tank for entrepreneurial families to candidly share knowledge and expertise in an environment of trust.
Dr. Moosmann has been an active member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), and was nominated in 2002 by the Max-Planck-Institute for Foreign Private and International Law, Hamburg to participate in the «European Foundation Project» as a member of a renowned expert panel. He is also Member of the University Board of the Private University of Liechtenstein (UFL).
A native Swiss-Canadian, he holds a Doctorate of Law (magna cum laude) from the University of Zurich. His thesis, comparing the Anglo-Saxon and Liechtenstein trust structures, with special consideration of beneficiaries’ interests, was published in 1999. He also holds an MBA in International Wealth Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Moosmann regularly lectures on topics related to cross-border tax and estate planning, philanthropy and subjects associated with the transition and governance within Families Owning Businesses.
