Lyco Works accepts two types of engagements: New Product Creation and Innovation on the one hand, and Intellectual Property (“IP”) Strategy on the other. New product creation and innovation includes biotech, chemicals, materials, mechanical, electrical, and software products. Dr. Lye is recognized as an inventor on 22 issued US patents, with ~10 more in prosecution. IP strategy includes patent landscape analysis, technology trajectory analysis, patent whitespace, and line-of-sight to claims issuance.

Prime mover at Lyco, Dr. Jason Lye is a scientist, an inventor, a seasoned dealmaker, and an advisor for large and small companies alike. He is author of the entrepreneurship book “Prototype to Profits” targeted for publication in 2021, and is also recognized as one of the world’s top patent strategists by IAM Magazine.
Dr Lye’s most recent industrial position was director of technology in-licensing for Newell Brands, where he led several $100 million open innovation projects for various business units. His technological advice was also relied on by Newell’s venture investment function. As founder of Lyco Works, Dr. Lye has 20+ years of intellectual asset management experience, including over 15 years of IP-based deal making with Kimberly-Clark Corp, Newell Brands Inc (formally Newell Rubbermaid) and now for his customers.
Dr Lye is a trained negotiator (Harvard Law School Program on Negotiation.) He holds a PhD in fiber and polymer science from North Carolina State University and a BSc in Colour Chemistry from the University of Leeds. Dr. Lye is also the 2021 Chair of the GA Section of the American Chemical Society, which includes 1,900 active members in the metro Atlanta area. In his spare time, Jason enjoys bee-keeping, service through the Lion’s club, camping, water gardening, and SCUBA diving.
